Silly Season

Well this is it, only one sleep to go and it's the main day of the silly season. As for myself, I just need to take more valium at work to be able to cope with the idiotic incompetence that is the drunken, very loud, rude or ignorant person coming or going to a christmas party or another christmas part. Normally I wouldn't complain if they're good looking, but then that theory goes out the door when utter trash reaks from their mouth. But who am I to complain.

Christmas night is also the last night that I'll be working on the Glen Waverley line and probably for the Eastern area. From Sunday I'll be gracing the shores of the lovely Western area. Knowing that Christmas day, even with free travel will be absolutely dead, It'll be nice and quiet and enjoyable at work.

Gold Coast

Okay, I'm going to get my arse into gear and give a brief account of the events in the past week up in the Gold Coast. There was myself, Chris, Rebecca and Frances, flew Virgin (no mile high stories), drove around in a brand new Fairlane, complete with leather seating. Spent a week in pissing down flood buggery rain and gorgeous sunshine. Much to the delite of consuming german beer on the first night from the Bavarian Haus in central Surfers (all this is recorded on tape). Watching the stormy weather for the next few days on the 11th floor of the Capricorn One, complete with full ocean and river views on the side. I'll end up typing up an expose of the day to day events that occurred on this trip.

Day 1 (Tues 7 Dec) - Early morning arrival in Brisbane. Drive down to Surfers Paradise. Met with pouring rain (240mm that night). Notice the poor road drainage system as the flowing gutter gets closer to the car door. Marvel at the view available from the balcony and head off down to the mall to end up getting saturated in the rain. Get tickets for SeaWorld. Have dinner at the Bavarian Haus and run amoke in the apartment.

Day 2 (Wed 8 Dec) - Have an enjoyable day at SeaWorld (complete with commentary). Get wet, perve on a few cute guys. Pic of the crop - Sea show was the best, followed by a Polar bear being so cute and then the dolphins who are just adorable show offs. Jupiters Casino for dinner (notice the lack of signage to get to places).

Day 3 (Thurs 9 Dec) - Take my time, play some Civ 3. Go down on the beach with Bec and Frans and get wet again. Get tickets for MovieWorld and DreamWorld. Went to a really great Thai restaurant for dinner. Overall an easy day.

Day 4 (Fri 10 Dec) - Movieworld today and the start attraction there is the Police Acadamy show which is always a laugh. The Insanity Dept does it's best and I quite like the really cute Captain Harris who appeared later. Pissed down and got wet again. Proved our maturity was completely out of the door (we were only ffree not 26), and also proved that we were mentally unstable by riding the Lethal Weapon ride 5 times in a row in the pouring rain. Grumpys Seafood Restaurant for dinner tonight and I also dragged Chris along and decided to try the local venue; MPs (short for Meeting Place). The place was absolutely dead. I did manage to pick up and eyed off both bartendars as well.

Day 5 (Sat 11 Dec) - Another bludge day. Went for a really good walk down to Australia Fair, had a look around there trying to find a wireless cafe or outlet for my laptop. Didn't find a single place in around Surfers or in Southport. Went to the supermarket and bought food for the barbie, and enjoyed that. Ventured off again, this time by myself to MP's. Was a lot busier than the night before and picked up again.

Day 6 (Sun 12 Dec) - Well I did the driving up to the Sunshine Coast. A typical tropical storm came through, my camera fogged up so I was stuffed when we arrived at Superbee. Driving around Maroochydore trying to find how the f*ck to we get to the Big pineapple when another storm hit. The place itself was nice and relaxing. My throat was about to get the better of me and finally on the trip was going to literally overtake. We went on the train and the nutmobile and then made our way back to the apartment. Went to the doctors and then came back to pizza and left overs from the barbie the night before.

Day 7 (Mon 13 Dec) - The day I've been waiting for. We saved the best to last - DreamWorld. Well the first ride we went on was the Giant Drop and then on the Tower of Terror. Absolute fun. I also managed to go on the Cyclone (shocking slow service for that ride), Wipeout and the Claw, plus a kiddies one just to cool down and a few others. The tiger show was just adorable and they were so cute. A lovely tropical storm came through once again and I ventured off to the Big Brother house which was amazing deco wise (which is what i'm interested in). After another ride on the Giant Drop and then on the Flume ride (wet again). It was time to go. Dinner at Sizzler, then fun and games at mini golf just across the road. Going back to the apartment and then taking some German beer onto the beer and just sitting there watching a storm in the distance and looking at the stars. A perfect night.

Day 8 (Tues 14 Dec) - Chris and myself take the train to Sth Brisbane. Have a really good chat with our equivalents who were working there. Have a drool whilst inside the Railway Shop at the station. Meet up with the girls at Roma Street and have a wonder around before heading off the airport and flying back home with an all girl (female) crew.

I'll end up expanding on this later. But I'll let you know.

Back to reality

Well I'm back after a great week up in the Gold Coast and now having to face the reality of getting my life back into order. This may sound quite simple for some people but not all, but rest assured I think I can manage to make something out of this. I hope to have a version of events up north placed on here shortly. But at this stage, I'm going to bed after having a wonderful and enlighting dinner at a friends.

Free at last....... for 3 weeks!

Well what a great start to my annual leave. After working last night on the Glen Waverley line, probably for the last time and having a quick bite to eat whilst skimming through emails, only to set my alarm at a time that is before midday.

Having awoken at 9am (yet I only recall looking at my phone at 9.15am), I managed to have a shower and get myself ready and having the annoying time of looking at the mirror and having one of my fat tummy mornings. This meant that whatever I wore made it look worse. Basically what shirt I tried on first went back on and I scooted off out the door and driving off to the station to catch the train and on my way to the Connex Family Day Christmas party at Caulfield Racecourse.

Whilst on my way into Flinders Street on the train, I couldn't help but notice the very large amount of families that were travelling on the train, this being a complete contrast from the normal feral activity that will occur later on during the day. After stopping off at Coffee HQ and chatting to one of the guys on the barriers, I scooted off down onto the platform and caught the Frankston train. Arriving at Caulfield station, I notice a few familar faces on the platform, but continue on my way to the main entrance of the racecourse.

Attendance at the family day was brilliant and so was the general atmosphere. Apart from noticing Vinyl on the catwalk from one deranged staff member who basically has a wardrobe filled with these items and the many Christmasy characters in costume (many would notice the mini skirts on some of them). Lots of laughs, great food, heaps of people to chat with and plenty to drink (alcohol was not free), all in all it was a great day and off I scooted off back into town in the early afternoon.

As a finale to my relaxing day in town, I stopped off at Fed Sq to my normal haunt for a drink, looked around at the trade passing through because of the World Aids Day concert outside. I bid my farewells and hopped on the train back home.

All I can say this week before I go up north is............ "So much work to do here this week."

Understanding languages Pt 2

Things may not be as hard to understand if you actually pay attention to written instructions or if you decide to notice where everyone else gets their information from. The later being the case. Hey I'm still learning. Mind you it's hard to think when you're listening to gun fire on a radio show that I'm listening to.

cute isn't she

Understanding languages

Well all I can say is that after two glass of Boags Draught (Tassie's much better tasting version of a VB) I now know as much XHTML than actually expected. This means that I really don't have a bloody clue what I'm doing but I'm trying my best to see what I can do. I've been working on trying to put a bloody header on this blogspot and I think I've managed to achieve what I was supposed to do. Now I can go to be (4.13am) and make sure I don't wake up from a headache from all the thinking that I had to achieve to be able to get this far. Now all I need to know is how to set up the comments properly so they just pop up. I hate XHTML.

A WINE-ing we all go

Well last night ended up being a great treat. We had the royal visit by my friends cousin, but don't really recall to what happened to the red carpet. After driving from the tramway museum to their place which was only just down the road and arrived there to find that they had already gone through 2 bottles *snort*. I brought along a couple snacks and a bottle of Pizzini (can't quite remember what it was bottle of red). I think we also went through less bottles compared with the last wine night that we had. After munching through some lovely prawns with a nice seafood sauce and then helping Chris out cooking on the barbie the conversation at the table aired on the side of religious discussion. Off to the stereo I go playing "On the Bible". Since the royal couple left and then everyone else decided to leave or hit the sack, the next best thing to end the night would be a screening of Priscilla with a nice fortified. All in all a great night plonk and food wise and the company pretty good. Well work on the next time.

Well here I go

To blog or not to blog, that is the question that I've been thinking about for a little while. There have been a few really good blogs that I have seen on here, but of course I might not be up to that standard that you may expect from viewing such wonderful material. Generally it would be a great place for myself to just blab and comment about anything that I choose and considering I am not a HTML expert, I really can't apply something like this to my site. Hey If i can manage to work out how to use XHTML I might be able to do some cosmetic surgery on here, but I think i'll end up using the band aid technique and try and patch things up. Oh well here we go.
